Spring Madness in the Theatre
It’s anything but the ‘calm before the season’ in the Ray and Ann Stanhope Theatre these days. The BI Community Players are rehearsing for the May 27 & 28 performances of Drinking Habits 2: Caught in the Act by Tom Smith, lights are being restrung, and the Hearing Loop assistive listening system was just installed. Saturday movies continue this week with award-winners ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’ at 3pm and ‘A Monster Calls’ at 7pm. (Scroll down to see the trailers as well as next week’s movie picks). And next week the BICS 4th, 5th and 6th grade students take over for the staging of their “Fractured Fairy Tales” production Friday, May 12 at 7pm. (With so much going on, we had to stop Pickleball for a few weeks). Of course, we have to squeeze in one more COA Sunday Dinner on May 7 (the last until Sept) with a special ‘Spring Strings Serenade’ by the BICS students. And we’ll top that off with the 15th Annual PABI Road Rally starting at 12:30pm at the Shamrock.
Yes, it’s the best sort of madness right now–until July, that is.
What’s at the BIC Center?
The Welcome Center
The front room of our first floor is a Welcome Center. It is a great place to get information, grab a snack, connect to Wi-Fi and kick off your island adventure. It’s also home to the office of the Island’s Chamber of Commerce.
BIC Center Theater
The BIC Center Theater is the premier performance space on the island hosting music of all genres, dance, theater productions, movies, seminars and community meetings. Check here for complete information on upcoming events.
The Hangout
Our Hangout upstairs offers an informal gathering place for meetings, reading, pool, board games, video games, TV, using our community PCs and printer, and … just hanging out. Also there are studios for the community’s radio station…our very own WVBI-The Voice of Beaver Island.
