The Boat is Back in Town…
Well, almost. The Grand Prize for our 2021 BIC Center/WVBI Raffle is being built now and will arrive in June–and it will be very similar to the Tracker fishing and sport boat that drew rave reviews for last year’s raffle. Our prize this year is an updated 2021 model with all the bells and whistles you need for a fun day on one of the island’s inland lakes or out on Lake Michigan. We’re selling just 1,500 tickets at $50 each or three for $100. They are available starting Saturday on the BIC Center front desk and, starting Monday, you’ll be able to purchase them online at raffle.biccenter.org.
While you are in the BIC Center or online picking up your 2021 Raffle tickets, you might want to pick up tickets for performance events this summer in the BIC Theater. With COVID-19 restrictions lifting, we have a full schedule of events planned for you to enjoy. Pick your favorites and pick your tickets up now.
We’ll be limited to 50% capacity for our first show, so only 70 tickets are available for Dave Bennett and his Quartet. His shows have sold out in the past, so avoid disappointment by ordering your tickets now. Our new online ticketing system let’s you pick your seats and complete your purchase all from the comfort of your mobile phone, tablet, laptop or desktop. Just point your browser at tickets.biccenter.org to get started. Of course, you can also buy tickets the old fashioned way at the Front Desk (and pick up a snack from the Concession Stand, too, if you are hungry).
Dave’s show will be followed by two fun comedies from Central Michigan University’s Summer University Theater. We are proud to join them in presenting Sylvia by A.R Gurney on July 2nd followed by Michael Hollinger’s Red Herring on the 3rd. Baroque on Beaver week kicks off with two gala fundraisers for Baroque. Solo Percussionist Peter Ferry takes to the stage first on July 30th. Flutist Anthony Trionfo takes to the stage the following evening, July 31st. After the gala events, the full week of Baroque gets underway on Sunday with a presentation at the BIC Center from Michael Hall and Zack Boyt on what’s new for the festival and what to look for in the week ahead.
Next on deck is a performance by the RFD Boys on August 14th for Homecoming Weekend. Their approach to bluegrass makes them national and island favorites. We’ll wrap the summer season with a jazz and blues bow as Claudia Schmidt performs on September 4th.
We look forward to seeing you this summer at your Beaver Island Community Center.

The Hangout
