WVBI Shows on Consolidation, Shows on the Stage & Shows on the Big Screen
WVBI will broadcast two programs on consolidation this week. Listen on Tuesday evening after WVBI’s global news update to hear Beaver Island Perspectives with Angel Welke. She’ll discuss why she favors consolidation. On Wednesday evening, Bill Kohls will be on the show (also right after the news at 5) to discuss why he opposes consolidation. After the programs are broadcast, WVBI plans to post both as podcasts on its website, so if you miss them on the air you can listen later. WVBI plans follow-up interviews with both Angel and Bill, and as well as interviews with others in the community. If you have questions you’d like to have addressed as part of this coverage, please address them to consolidationquestions@wvbi.net or get them to the BIC Center in an envelope marked Consolidation Questions either by mail or dropping them off.
We have two shows coming to the Robert Gillespie Memorial Theater. First up is The Odd Couple (the Female Version) starring Laura Green and Becca Foli as the Odd Couple with Bryan Foli, Nick DeLaat, Vicki Smith, and Heidi Vigil, Marie Boyle and Elaine West. Retired CMU Theater Professor Stan Jensen directs the show long-time Beaver Island Players organizer and director Jacque LaFreniere is the producer. Tickets are $13 for adults and $8 for students. (Note that this play isn’t designed for children under 13.)
Next on the stage is the annual BICS 4th & 5th grade play. This year our young thespians bring you Born to Be Wild. What do animals think about? This show has the answers. Raffle prizes will be awarded (come early to see the prizes). Laughs & giggles will be had. Animals will run wild. And all proceeds will go towards supporting the 4th & 5th Grade Class Trip to Camp Hayo-Went-Ha!
Our movies this weekend both have a bit of a mystic twist. Mary and the Witch’s Flower features beautiful animation and a heartwarming story. It’s on at 3PM and rated PG. At 7, the multiple award-winning The Shape of Water takes to the big screen. It’s a love story like no other with amazing special effects, a fabulous script and many outstanding performances. It’s rated R. Both shows have free-will donation admission (students free) and, as always, tasty treats and drinks will be available at the concession stand.
